Same issue, additionally when you try it when the car is in the off state it goes up to 34% then stops, as soon as you go into drive it fails instantly. Did a call with BMW about it and they are not able to fix it remotely. They told me that i had to go to the dealer and let it flash there.
Now the car downloads the update itself and it still fails. The only remaining thing I could try myself is to clear the error memory / Fehlerspeicher.

Did you by chance write about this on Motor
Talk? :D

I haven't noticed anybody in the UK report it, so just letting you know that I got the update OTA and successfully installed today on iDrive 8.0

Just got it here, have downloaded it to phone but it seems to be struggling to transfer it to the car.

For those of you who have successfully installed do you get any indication of progress when the update is being transferred from phone to car?

I don’t buy that one. They said the same for manual battery preconditioning and then randomly gave it to us in an update.
I agree that the whole not allowing manual battery preconditioning was arbitrary feature gating, taken preconditioning was a pre-existing ability triggered by the navigation system.

Plug and charge is a very different system, that only started testing in 2021 which is far too tight a timeline for a company like BMW that hates giving customers anything new/charges for every feature they can.

If you screwed up P&C security it would be far too easy for a charger to harvest details for fraudulent use or perhaps even extract it from the car itself during "servicing".

The basics of Plug & Charge

I imagine the missing hardware is probably related to creating an equivalent to Apple's secure enclave or PC's TPM for storing certificates etc.

Tried again and it has prepared it for installation…….fingers crossed it installs nicely

It took a while but now successfully installed.

I’ll be trying it on my way to work in the morning. It’s on my phone now so will see whether all the computers play nicely together.

iDrive feels more responsive…….keen to see if it makes any difference to my stutter in the power delivery at 25%

Updated my e-drive 40 msport. Haven't really noticed any difference to be honest, with the exception of the navigation looking slightly different. On a seperate issue, why isn't the traffic light stop warning available in the UK?

Mine upgraded today. It all went smoothly, but I lost my Bimmercode tweaks to turn off speed warnings and lane departure intervention so I had to go back and re-do them. Not a huge deal. However, I did have some connectivity drop-outs shortly after the update (no sat nav routing, no traffic info, native Spotify endlessly "loading", no view of the car from the app, ...), but that now seem to have settled down now.

I haven't really noticed anything different though.

Looks like the Update Drones made a U-turn and headed over the pond to the UK

I think a second drone squadron left earlier, as it's just arrived on my app in Australia. I got the 03/2025 OTA as well so I was half expecting to be skipped for this one.
