So took the car for a drive this and immediately the software update was found, yet the app was been telling me nothing. Currently it is at installing the software but I guess if I'd not resolved the in-car update then I might never have known?
BMW's software update process isn't really great and is pretty opaque, so it's unlikely you would've otherwise known. And like a lot of developers, their release notes could certainly be more informative. It is what it is.

I don't expect it to ever be fixed, honestly. I'm fairly certain it's an iDrive bug, so I don't believe that any iOS revisions are going to have any effect.

I've used CarPlay with five or six other vehicles, and my i4 is the only one that has any problems.
I have this same experience. Even idrive 7 works perfectly.

I had a 21 M235i for around 4 years and it didn't give me one issue with any update through the app.
Yeah I know all about firmware release notes, having been a IT Network manager for just under 20 years...

I'm still stuck on 11/2023.73. Can't seem to get the update on the phone or the car no matter what I try. Apparently I have offended the Gods of Remote Software Updates and they are denying me any updates. Off to the dealer tomorrow.
I am also stuck on this version since more than a year
i4 e35 my 24.

I have tried to look at the app many times but nothing there.
’’Any advice?

You could try your luck at the dealer and just say that your car is not receiving OTA updates and see if they'll do one manually. That's how I got my first update a couple of months after buying the car.

That is probably the next step.
’At the moment I have spoken with BMW connected drive and they are investigating the issue. The main reason I want a newer swversion, is to avail of Plug and ChargeatIonity stations. That shoul be available in my car according to BMW France, but requires at least version 07/2024! BMW charging told me I can could activate it if I wanted With the above version of sw.
At the moment they hve escalated to question to Germany, so lets see?

I got the update to 07/2025.40 today at the dealer, so for me it is fixed;)
Finally managed to go to the dealer and got 07/2025.51

For anyone out of context: Our cars would try to install the update and abort at 10%. Then start over. No known DIY fix. Maybe clearing error codes (Fehlerspeicher) could fix it (as it helps in another case), but I didn't wanted to try as my car is still under warranty.

I just received the update and had a small drive. Am I the only one to find the system much more responsive? For me the best example is that there is no more drop in frame rate when in map mode on the instrument cluster (especially visible in the epower gauge)

The system was not slow before but sometimes a bit laggy so I’m really happy with the update!
Not sure about responsiveness. My navigation still hangs from time to time when starting the vehicle. But, I think the behavior of the A/C changed.
