Anyone else notice / amused that we're all happy to get 2025/03 updates in the US, when our German friends will be seeing 2025/07 any day now?
07/2025.xx is already available, although I don’t have fomo over these anymore. Unless there’s an important fix, like the drive unit software recall, or I’m getting SoC in main nav screen, there’s no more interest for me at least.

Withdrawn update?
I didn’t even know they can stop an update that’s already downloaded to the car but not applied yet.
now I wonder why?

the only issue I have new since the update is that the traffic camera app
Didn’t show up and took some time (normal) and now it is in the apps.
however, clicking on it to change settings doesn’t work. The traffic camera app doesn’t open.
I did the reboot and also the “here time reboot”
Still not working.

i check with the sport mode reducing the gom.
it should go down since theoretically it will increase consumption. It’s also adjusted dynamically during drive so perhaps will go down or up depending on the driving and the environment.
You might check whether the traffic camera is a paid app for you. In mybmw in the All Services tab look at Connected Drive Upgrades.

Regarding idrive 8.0 does anyone know if the update erased the software modifications via Bimmercode we have been able to make such as seat belt reminders, comfort plus mode, etc? The information that comes with the update suggests that retrofits and tunings not approved by BMW might be lost and that such changes might cause damage during and after the update.
Yes. I lost all of mine.

@gsbaker.
yes the app is paid, and right now on the free trial.
the app doesn’t even show up untill someone pays for it.
so my trial is running without using it, lol.
i wrote the the i helpline an few days back and no answer.other then the “thank you for your request, you will hear shortly from us” lol. Or something like this.
I guess i have to bite the bullet and bring it back to the dealer. At least the dealer does look into issues.

Not sure what version is currently installing. I think this is the 2nd update since I have had the car. Strange process this time though. App downloaded and transferred update to car successfully. It then seemed stuck on "Update is currently blocked" message in Vehicle Status/Software and the details for that said something to the effect of drive your car and check back. It was that way overnight so I got into the car in garage and put it in Ready mode, with still no change. A short while later I went back to app and it said that it was ready to install and was able to proceed. It currently is at the install state of "Almost Done!"

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere before around the forum. Certainly not a seamless nor most friendly user experience.

This may be significant enough. They've done something crazy innovative to the native maps (but 8.5 only):

[/sarcasm]

However in all seriousness, from the iX forum, at least one person got their dealership to install 07/2025 and it changed something in iD8: https://www.ixforums.com/threads/software-version-07-2024-25-and-2-year-service.3320/

So far the biggest change is in the climate control settings and how the vents are controlled and how the vented seats, heated steering, and heated seat levels are reported. I think this is a nice improvement to the 8.0 operating system for the IX.

I can’t get 8.5 since my IX was built before May 2022

After it finished I can confirm the update is 03/2025.71. I also noticed in the app that in the Remote Software Upgrade status section there is a prompt to "ENABLE AUTO-INSTALL". Anyone do that? What are your thoughts on it? I wonder how that process might work...

Just updated to 03/2025.71 from XX/XXXX.43 and it took the 20 min they were predicting. The MyApp does not show any particular features added and it did not mention the recall being addressed since I have a 2025 i4 xDrive40 that apparently was not part of the recall. I drove around for a bit and played with the settings but everything seems unchanged. What I have noticed is that the estimated miles left in the battery has gone up. At 88% battery charge it estimates I have 319 miles left. Hm! We shall see!
Mine did mention that they addressed the recall in the What is New notes. Unfortunately I didn’t take a photo.

Interesting- update transferred to the car last night but now I woke up to a message in the app that the software update has been withdrawn. Still on 11/2023.73.

Same thing happened to me. Downloaded the package to my phone (fairly large file as i recall), then transferred to the car for install and once the transfer was complete it said my software was already up to date. I am also on 11/2023.73 and my car is a 2024 M50. If i check for updates again it says my software is up to date.

This weekend I parked in a covered parking garage in north Jersey from Friday to Sunday. Sunday morning the phone app alerted me that 03/2025.71 was downloaded to the car and ready to install. The notes said something about possible error messages after the install - and the fix is to lock doors from outside for 5 minutes, so after getting home and installing the update I locked the car for a while too.

6 weeks ago at the dealer for something else, they said there's an update for my car and wanted to charge $300 to install it(!). I said no.

Bad stealership is bad.

I'm having difficulty with this update, and I'm hoping some here can help. I got the notification in car and app to download it via app. Got it to the app just fine, but it says it needs BOTH bluetooth and wifi connections to car to transfer from app to car.

My problem: I can't get the wifi to connect. Or rather, when I do (Direct-BMW some numbers), it says "no internet connection" on my phone for that wifi.

What do? :)

Edit to add: the app says wi-fi "permission required", but the phone says "no internet connection" when I try to connect to the car's wifi.
I'm having the same issue with not being able to get the app transferred from the app to my car.
What was your fix?!? I'm close to throwing in the towel and making an appointment at the dealership because I've connected and unconnected WiFi/Hotspot too many times to count.
I didn't have this issue with the last software update. (That said, I'm running iOS 26 Beta 3 on my iPhone)

You reckon we'll ever see another software update?
This looks to be a priority in USA (or North America).
I have always been OTA updated before the friends across the Atlantics - but not this time.
Anyone in Europe ? Or is there a priority with some cars, build years/months ?

The post of mine directly after the one you quoted shows briefly what I did. Basically one of the settings for the app on my phone had been turned off.

In case anyone was wondering:

If you perform the OTA update and fulfill the recall, the network will be informed that the recall has been cleared. I'd have to look back to see what day last week I did my OTA... Looks back.
Did mine last week Tuesday, so it propagates back at least under 9 days.

The recall when manually installed only updates two modules according to the SA's on-screen instruction.

Not I. I am happy to suppose they have gotten all my software just perfect already.
I like this attitude.

While my software isn't updating (just checked - still no update), at least they're not breaking anything that works!
