Whoa! That's the first time I've seen a BMW NA SIB on this - it has the same content as the one from reddit. I will check with my dealer tomorrow with this SIB #, they weren't able to find it with the SEL # from reddit, but that was probably an EU code.
No problem. I occasionally look through the "manufacturer communications" filed for the i4 at the NHTSA and that's where I found this one. . They're kinda interesting. You can look through them here: 2022 BMW I4 4 DR RWD | NHTSA

Sure looks like it!

it’s still my impression the only users on this forum suffering what must be an infuriating problem are with NA cars. To confirm I use CarPlay via an iPhone 13 to my i4 edrive 40 - never had an issue, not once now in 3000 miles. I find that bizarre tho.

Well... there was a SIB for the EU, so perhaps it's been fixed there...

I am going to do this tomorrow.
Please post back what your dealer/SA says. I'll make an appointment for next week.

FIrst glimmer of hope!!!!
But that’s from December. But why would they keep that a secret?
I’ll send it to my service department as well. But this is the guy told me my car was fine and just needed the “gyroscope to catch up”. Those are exact words after visiting my service department twice.

I just dropped off my car for sound generator recall I gave my SA the SIB let’s see if he does anything.
He won't be able to do anything, if my example is representative:

While in for a service appointment today I had a few things checked and got the software update to fix this recall. For me it is version 03/2023.30.

Since then, I drove my i4 just back from the dealership, making a quick stop for groceries en route. Tomorrow I will drive it for real (> 150 miles).

Until then I can report only that when I use the "Screen off" shortcut, newly there is a long delay after the drop-down retracts and before the screen darkens. It takes a second or so now. Previously it was almost instantaneous.

Other than that, the MyBMW app shows old data (from circa when the service was done). Apparently my car is parked at the dealership with its hood open. But the app was flakey in recent days, so I won't yet attribute this to the software update.

On another post here it says that SIB is only good for an ATM-02 not an ATM-01. Can someone translate that for me?

Also look at this link for an quantity 169 7 series

The SIB implies it may be more than an iDrive update. We'll see.

The SIB specifically calls out the i4 (G26), so there's hope.

Just spoke to NHTSA about my complaint. They said GPS is not considered a safety feature. You can still drive a car safely without GPS. So that avenue may be a dead end
They just say whatever to avoid responsibility :(
yet GPS might not be considered a safety feature..
.

If that is the law, the law needs to be updated..

My SW got updated to 03/2023.27 and was told I already have SIB to fix gps issue with this update I drove back without gps issue so far, only time will tell. I don’t see any significant changes aside from recall fix and SIB.
Interesting note, my coding was wiped out as expected but somehow I’m still able to close trunk with keyfob by holding down open trunk button. Not sure new SW added this feature.
