The Hypervolt is an AC charger. The car has only been charged once using a DC Charger
Which is why I said...
I would go back to the dealer and ask them why they believe the Hypervolt is causing this
The fault codes must have date/times on them. Have you requested those? Can you associate them with what was happening to the car at the time? Have you had the Drivetrain error more than once?

Drive train dashboard warning
Queensland, Australia- 2024 i4M40 done 33,000 kilometres; great vehicle! No problems, except, after the second service the Technician asked if I had had any drivetrain problems? I replied No. He then said the vehicle had registered a drivetrain problem 6 months ago, did I have any problems? I replied no, the vehicle hadn’t shown any signs on the dash, and didn’t stop functioning. Hearing this, the Technician said, well if you have anymore, it means that some ‘foreign body is loose in the electric motor and will need to be removed.
Since then two warnings of ‘drivetrain problem! Take the vehicle to your BMW Service Centre’ have shown on the dash, but the vehicle hasn’t stop functioning. I have since booked it in for examination by my BMW Service Centre.
Strange! Has anyone else had a similar problem? And if so, what was the outcome? Smithy.

I left work Thursday and got in my M50, buckled up and pushed ON button. Car briefly came on and then I got the error.

Called Roadside Assistance. 3 hours later, a flatbed tow truck pulls up, he pulls the car onto the bed on skates, takes it to the dealership and its been there since. They gave me a loaner and said they need to keep it through the weekend. I guess no one in Munich tech support is picking up the phone.

Sorry to hear this has happened to you. Hope they can diagnose it faster than my dealer was able to do. When this happened to my car, it took 3 weeks to get it diagnosed and fixed.

The post immediately below yours is about a recall notice for a drivetrain warning related issue.

Drivetrain warnings are not in the top three most common problems, but definitely top ten. I don't recall any that were diagnosed as foreign bodies in the motor, though. That may be a completely unique one for the board.

Search is your friend, though.

yikes. What did the issue end up being?
The problem with my car was with the Cell Monitoring Circuit board. Took 2 days before they looked at my car because of other appointments ahead of me. Then took 2 weeks to figure out the problem. They ran multiple diagnostic tests and consulted with BMW's tech center several times. Had to drop the high voltage battery out of the car to run further tests and that pointed to the Cell Monitoring circuit. Took 2 days to get the new board. One more day to put everything back together and then one more day to make sure everything was working properly.

This is why the Neue Klasse cars have been designed with these electronics accessible via a removable panel inside the car, no need to remove the battery for what BMW have learned is the most common battery related issue.

UPDATE: Still no update from the dealer on diagnosis. Dealer has had my car for 5 days now, so I don't believe it's going to be a simple software update.

UPDATED UPDATE: Dealership called. They need to replace the Control Unit. It's ordered from Germany but they expect it to take two weeks. I'll continue driving the loaner until then. Fingers crossed.

Do you at least have an EV loaner? When mine was in for 2.5 months, I had a gas X3 to start, then a PHEV 5 series and finally an i4.

Yes indeed. I have an i4 eDrive40 as a loaner. The dealership gave it to me on day 1 (June 27).

UPDATED UPDATED UPDATED UPDATE: Got the car back TODAY, August 8, 2025 (car went in to BMW dealership via flatbed tow truck on June 26, 2025). Everything covered under warrantly. The description of the work is detailed but cryptic but appears that the EME (BMW part 123610 or 12-35-5-A90-EF9) is what failed and needed replacement. This part was ordered from Germany and only came in this week. Looks like they took a couple of days to do the work, and spent all morning today test driving it. Happy I finally got it back. It's like having a new car.

Glad to hear your car is back with you. That was certainly a long time to diagnose and fix the car. Hope everything is smooth sailing here on out for you.
