My BMW app not showing correct charge/battery status

A few days ago my car finally received 11/2023.73 which installed with no fanfare. Today after getting home and plugging my car in, a few hours later I noticed I had not received a notification from the app that my car had finished charging. I opened the app and it told me my car was still at 77% charge and not charging, which prompted me to check the car and see what was wrong. The car was plugged in and charged to 80% as expected.

I tried re-pairing my phone to the car and doing a full reboot of the car and the app still shows my car at 77% and unplugged. I have to assume that the software update has something to do with this, but I was wondering if anybody else had similar issues with their app? As a side note, other remote functionality works perfectly fine (e.g. climatization, lock/unlock, lights, cameras).

Did you completely restart your phone? I had the same problem but restarting the phone fixed it.

I've been seeing similar issues showing the vehicle status. I've found that if I go to remote services - remote camera - update view and let it finish, it then updates but just that one time. the latest update definitely broke this.

I noticed the same problem when I was charging this AM (first time since BMW software update). The app did not register that the i4 was being charged. Oddly, once the charge reached the target the app sent the usual message that the target had been reached and the time charging had stopped. Obviously there is a glitch with the new i4 software…..

I’ve not noticed any issues with the ConnectedDrive. I’ve not had to charge mine though.

Wishful thinking that BMW software engineers will read this forum and rectify any bugs. You should report any issues directly in the My BMW app:
  • Lower right hand corner ‘person’ icon
  • App Feedback
  • Problem with the App

I had the same issue a few days ago but did full hard reset of iDrive seemed to have solved it. My SOC wasn’t updating prior to that and no remote function, horn, headlights, 360 view etc..

To do a hard reset press car start button 3 quick times without pressing brake car will be in diagnostic mode. Then hold down car volume button down until iDrive reboots 3 times.

It’s fine in the UK at present. I charged mine overnight and the car and App agree. As BMW use a cloud system, it could be the North America instance that’s having a little lay down. I’ve noticed the BMW also do server side updates at weekends, but as with their OS updates, never tell anyone anything.

I just realized that my BMW App is stuck in displaying this morning’s charge state and unlock doors.

I’ve tried killing the App, connecting the phone to the car and launching the car, logging out and back into the App. But it hasn’t worked.

any ideas?

I'll bet this is an outage on BMW side today as I have the same. Just need to wait for them to fix.

Likewise. I've tried rebooting the iDrive unit. The charging history shows last night's charge. It's just the Home Screen charge level that's stuck for me. Other functions, such as changing charging settings, locking and unlocking the car, etc all seem to work just fine. Definitely seems to point to a partial outage on the BMW backend servers.

Yes, well put. I also verified that the charging history is correctly displayed in my case. Took a drive and saw that my trip statistics were also properly noted. It is only the home screen SOC that is not being updated.

Wow, let’s hope BMW SysOp gets out of bed soon so he can restart the stuck server.

The easiest way to reset the status is to send a lock/unlock command. It's not constantly updated, but rather pulled, on demand only.

Also works better when the servers are up.
