I orded with cognac and I dont like lower dash in cognac either, so I ordered expanded leather dashboard. Then the whole dashboard turned blackMy original spec was San Remo Green with the cognac interior, but then the dealer (UK) told me that it wasn’t an option to not have the lower dash also in cognac (which I really don’t like!) so I changed the interior to red as the lower dash stays black with this spec oddly!
Thanks for sharing Steffo. I also ordered the San Remo Green/Cognac edrive40 without the sport package. Very hard to find real-life pictures of that version. Your pictures definitely beat my Digital Brochure.
Actually the aluminium window trim on the eDrive40 above looks gorgeous an
For the longest time I thought that I was the only one who was going for the Aluminum trim.Agree on the metal/alu frames and trims. Maybe I’m oldfashioned - with an old heartbeat for traditional coupés such as the M635csi and mb coupé series - since I prefer the metal/cerium look than the nowadays popular shadowline black trims (except for black color) and I also would like to have the window trims in metal or cerium on my M50.
I agree fully - in dark exterior e40 without M-sport package aluminium looks much better. I would do the same. M-sport and M50 have black glossy around windows which makes the looks inconsistent in my opinion without M Shadowline. For the longest time I thought that I was the only one who was going for the Aluminum trim.
You can find posts of mine since the first day I joined the forum. Asking if I'm "old fashioned" in that matter.
I never considered a Tesla but I was somehow surprised when they ditched Aluminum in favor of black.
And later I was Amazed when BMW dropped the Aluminum trim from the LCI of the iX3.
Was that an ...environmental decision I wonder? That could make sense if it was true.
Again, call me old fashioned but I still think that is essential for dark colors.
I'm guessing maybe that isn't something we can spec in the UK, no idea why mind! I specifically asked the dealer if there was any way I could do the cognac with a black dash and was told there was no way.I orded with cognac and I dont like lower dash in cognac either, so I ordered expanded leather dashboard. In Norway we can spec it like that with M-sport seats. Here is mine order.... ;-)I'm guessing maybe that isn't something we can spec in the UK, no idea why mind! I specifically asked the dealer if there was any way I could do the cognac with a black dash and was told there was no way.
You know, my main concern was about the wheels. Non of them, M or non-M, are a perfect match for the aluminum trim which is very shiny. It will be hard to get full consistency though.
The rear ”exhaust” trim is always frozen grey and the inside trim of the front kidney grille is always frozen grey (outside trim is cerium grey or black)
.
The side air intake trims are always black.
Since no wheel option is fully black like in single digit M series - and all wheels are alu (only eDrive40) or alu/black mix (M versions) - we have to personally choose the mix-level of metalcolor trim on the i4.
I went without shadowline on my M50 since I think the alu color on the wheels makes the carpaint pop-up and makes the car come alive more with matching alu trims on the car (side mirrors, front air intakes and kidney, rear trim all in alucolor). I might have opted for alutrim around windows if that was available as well. There is a balance between too much black or too much alu depending on carpaint and personal taste.
I don't think so. If it has a black dash, that means the option "Leather Dashboard" was taken. It could be that the closest thing would be BMW individual Merino Tartufo, that has black dash

Table with the differences between the US and Europe for the M50. Some of the things are also valid for the eDrive 40.ooh, I didn't realize the difference for Europe. Thanks for the info.
Is anyone liking better the non-M 17" set-up than all the M 19" we are constantly seeing in the reviews? You know, my main concern was about the wheels. Non of them, M or non-M, are a perfect match for the aluminum trim which is very shiny.
Maybe the best, without being perfect, are the 17"/852 on a non-M e40.
