The one change I've noticed is that when CarPlay is connected, the BMW Navigation button on the sidebar doesn't show anymore. Before this update, with CarPlay connected there would be 5 icons, now there are 4. The navigation button shows when CarPlay is not connected.
I can see why they've done this. As it used to be, it was clear the intent was that there should only be one nav app running at once since it tried to put the CarPlay nav app onto the main screen, although there were times when the BMW one would be visible.

What they've done now though is, IMHO, not the right solution. Given that it's only the BMW nav app that properly manages charging stops (it integrates with the car's SoC, knows where the chargers are, and their occupancy status) then it makes sense to use that for these things. OTOH, things like Waze are better at routing decisions so there are times when that would be better.

So, the best solution would be to allow both to run concurrently. You would need to have the CarPlay screen active to see the CarPlay nav, but the main nav screen would be the BMW one.

But this change in the latest release will not allow you to see or use the BMW nav it you're using a CarPlay nav app.

You said stutter. Would "lurch" also be a fitting word? I've used the word lurch when describing an almost confusion of what the car wanted to do - accelerate or decelerate in heavy but fast moving traffic. Yet, when I drove from NH to PA last week I had no issues.
Mine wasn’t as strong as a lurch, a bit like a kickdown on an 8 speed automatic.

Turns out I was wrong. The first couple of times I drove the BMW Nav button didn't show. But now it's showing again.

The OTA drone is back in town! Now installing 07/2025.38. They gave me a 1.4 GB payload.

I'm still in a neighborhood mall parking lot, in the D mode, with my foot on the brake pedal (pretending to be driving because they want me to drive ha ha).

Fast download to app, then I sat in the car for 25 minutes as it was fast to get to 45% then stuck on 46% for 18 of the 25 minutes. Gave up until tomorrow.

As has already been commented on, it is pretty useless in indicating how far you are through the upgrade in time as it is far from linear. It is only really useful to ensure the update is progressing and you have to be patient as it gets 'stuck' at some points for some time and then jumps 20-30%!

Have also been pleasantly surprised today to discover that my car is still "technically capable" of receiving OTA updates.

I'll do the transfer to the car later, though.

I got the 07/2025.38 remote upgrade today also. It was a 340MB download from 03/2025.xx on my iDrive 8.0 car.

Seamless process but I had to recode most ECUs.

Separate from the iDrive remote software upgrades, the apps in the car get updated frequently. I would say at least once every two months I would get a notification saying app updates.

You do know there is a B mode don’t you. Would have stopped those cramps in the right leg.

Oh...i didn't dare to change to B in case it decides to cancel the download on me!! I didn't even dare to move too lol. In the past there were people here with downloads stopped or canceled, and some cannot find/restart the download/install later.

Still nothing in my app. I'll take the car out tonight and try it then.

What are you planning for the car? A meal? Cinema? Maybe a bit of dancing?

More seriously, from past experience the updates do seem to get spread out a bit but if you don't get it within the next few weeks I would contact your dealer. You must be getting near the end of your warranty and if there are issues getting OTA updates, best to get it sorted now.

Nothing for me either on the app or the car...😐

I received the notification for the update yesterday afternoon, and the car is updating now. I'm once again setting myself up for disappointment thinking that maybe, just maybe, they've fixed the "Unknown Artist" bug in the CarPlay integration. Hope springs eternal...

Singing. I'm off to choir practice. 😁

Very good point. The OTA updates have all been okay up to now, but you never know I suppose. Come to think of it, none of my updates have turned up via the app first, they've all come in via the car itself.

Upgrade arrived this morning on my phone.

Sat in car, switched drive mode on & it began. The servers must be on a go slow as app sat at 5% transfer but car screen showed transfer complete. Told it to install & had my lunch. The app did eventually update but around 45m late for each stage.

Car is fine & app now in sync.

Strange that they tell us about the grouping of favourites under an icon for this update when it actually happened with the March update. Took me ages to figure that out earlier this year.

I'm convinced the only reason they tell us to drive is because phones sometimes decide to pop back to the home wifi when no internet is found via the car, stopping the transfer. I always set my home wifi to not auto-connect when in range before changing to the car wifi.
